Korg DW-8000, 64 new retro patches for synthpop, synthwave, & italo disco ++

A download pack of 64 original patches for the Korg DW-8000/EX-8000 synthesizer. In the sysex format. Both as a SYSEX bank patch, but also in individual program patches for your convenience.

If you're into retro synth based music like Synth-pop, Synthwave or Italo Disco or anyother they should suit your style. Even composers for games and movies should find great stuff here.

The Korg DW-8000 is a hybrid digital/analog synth that has much in common with the more costly PPG system at the time. It sounds absolutely glorious, but is often overshadowed by more famous synths like the Yamaha DX7 or the Roland Jupiter/Juno series. The Korg DW-8000 can mimic both of these, at the same time, but it can definitely hold it's own.

You'll need a MIDI interface with MIDI in/out and a MIDI SYSEX transfer program to load the patches into your Korg DW-8000. I recommend UNISYNTH to do that. It's a free program.

Patch list:

p11 Das Boot Stringsp12 Pleasure Padp13 Terminate Padp14 PSB Stringsp15 Juno Brassp16 Arp Darkp17 Axel Fp18 Jump the Hills

p21 Filthy Cleanp22 Acidp23 SimpleBp24 ResoELPp25 PPG Guitarp26 PPG Bassp27 Reso Risep28 Juno Wannabe

p31 TwangMVp32 Vamos APp33 GoldenBp34 Sometimes Grainyp35 PPGp36 Plucky Bellp37 Hollow Savep38 Tubular glas

p41 GloomyAirp42 Trippy Rainp43 October Padp44 DDp45 Staccato Arpp46 Heartp47 Final Countdownp48 FM Piano

p51 8P soundtrackp52 Muted Waves of Arpp53 Haroldp54 Squarep55 Heavenly Guitarp56 Alonep57 DigiManp58 FBrass

P61 Blade Runner Padp62 Lead Delayp63 Layer Bassp64 Synth bellsp65 Walking Padp66 Tubular Legendp67 Naturalp68 Tribe

p71 FM Bassp72 Vincep73 Arp Bassp74 Clean Beep75 JH nightsp76 Reso affairsp77 FM Bass 2p78 X-files

p81 Save the 8Pp82 Juno Arpp83 PPG Bass Stringsp84 Synth Brass 1p85 Strangers synthsp86 DS guitarp87 Z brassp88 Z strings

These patches are created by me to emulate classic analogue synth sounds for use in all kinds of electronic music.

I've had the D-50 since the day it was released and these are what I consider the best sounds on the market for synth-pop, synthwave, italo disco and all sorts of retro synth music. Or modern too!

The sounds are compatible with the D-50, D-550. The Roland D-50 plugin and the Roland Boutique D-05.

This is a SYSEX download so you'll have to transfer these sounds over to your machine manually. I recommend the D-50 librarian to do this. This free program can be found here:

The sounds comes in 32 + 32 which means that the first 32 patches have reverb and chorus attached to them, but the next 32 is completely dry so you can use your own effects without having to edit off the reverb and chorus in the D-50 itself. The patches are the same, 32 wet, 32 dry.

Also included in my download is a free folder of some of my best drum sounds. Including drums from my track The Golden Boy. Something to sweeten the deal!

Patch list for the D-50 sounds:

1:1 Juno 6 Strings1:2 Donna Solo1:3 Take Me On Pluck1:4 Morricone Pad1:5 Matrix Poly1:6 For Retro Bass1:7 Sweep1:8 A Juno 2 Strings

2:1 Toy Guitar Miami Vice2:2 Sassy S-Brass2:3 Save A Prayer2:4 Warm Strings2:5 Liquid Piano2:6 Thompson Twins Pluck2:7 Jan Hammer Guitar2:8 Perc Poly

3:1 Soft Cell Bass3:2 Hollow Strings3:3 BM Bass3:4 Juno 6 Arpeggiator3:5 Italo Strings3:6 Natural P-Pad3:7 Hide and Seek Pad3:8 Being Boring

4:1 Italo Dry Pad4:2 Sometimes4:3 Alphaville4:4 Clock4:5 Don Juan Organ4:6 Arri4:7 Alice Bells4:8 Plastic Lead

Old-school synth-pop tutorial/workflow - Free patches Roland JX-8P download

Episode 1 of my new series where I construct, program and perform a song totally dawless and with only 80s synths, samplers, drum machines and modules.

I do this because I love working like this and secondly to show how it was done back in the day, especially for live work. Each episode ends with me performing the song, recorded in one take. Could be sour notes, playing errors and more, but it's the raw performance. No autotune or post editing.

I go over each synth I use, why I use it and the different parts will be broken down to show you what I think each part contributes to the song. I also program the drum machines to show how these old machines work.

In this episode, I construct a song I've called "Mr.DJ" and in the following episodes I will rebuild some of the songs from my latest album "Those Days". Check out that album on Spotify or Bandcamp here: LINK

Download 16 free patches for the Roland JX-8P or the excellent VST emulator PG-8X.
